Q&A with Andrea Dussault of Striped Lemon Design on her design at a beautiful condominium on Daniel Island.

What makes this project unique?

This condominium on Daniel Island features 12-foot ceilings and detailed trim work, making it a perfect canvas for bold design choices. The entire room was color-drenched in Benjamin Moore’s Breath of Fresh Air to create a striking and cohesive look throughout the space.

What challenges did you face?

A small room with no windows required a design that was both bright and impactful without feeling cramped. The absence of natural light led to the creative solution of incorporating custom fabrics in the same pattern as the wallpaper.

How did you incorporate the client’s personal style?

The client’s home reflects her personality, blending sophistication with a calm color palette and traditional coastal accents. Her desire for a fun, bold space gave us the freedom to design a sitting room that feels both inviting and unique.

Describe the furnishings and finishes.

Brushed brass pulls on the built-ins integrate with the gold tones in the wallpaper. Custom furnishings, artwork, and lighting balance the space. A custom rattan mirror adds texture, and original pieces, like the chairs and pendant light, were carefully incorporated.

Describe your design philosophy.

My designs focus on enhancing the way clients live by creating functional, timeless spaces that exceed expectations. I combine beauty, purpose, and practicality, paying careful attention to color, texture, materials, and layout to create harmonious, luxurious interiors.
