At the heart of the home, the kitchen features rift-sawn white oak cabinetry, custom-finished at HWC Custom Cabinetry’s North Charleston facility. The clean lines and warm finishes of the home’s cabinets are elevated by subtle details, such as Gola finger channels and a continuous accent of channel metal aluminum, which not only defines the finger-pull spaces but also wraps seamlessly around the stucco range hood. “The goal was to eliminate any visible hardware without compromising usability,” says Jay Miller.

The island, finished in Textil Plata, features a contemporary linen weave texture with a soft matte sheen. Rather than traditional dovetail drawers, Jay opted for a sleek European metal drawer system with push-to-open functionality. The rear of the island foregoes extra cabinetry in favor of a custom tile detail, chosen for its sculptural quality. With ample storage around the perimeter, the design team focused on balance and restraint, resisting the urge to overbuild. The cabinetry throughout the home maintains this sense of intentional variety.
