Story by Ashley Rowell / September 24, 2024

A dog may be a man’s best friend, but not so much for flowers and plants.

This yard’s architecture designed by REMARK Landscape Architecture, and expertly installed by Charleston Landscape, creates a delightful space where playful pups and carefully pruned plants can coexist harmoniously. Here is why:

Corten steel retaining walls outline gravel pathways leading to a fenced-in backyard. These beds are filled to the brim with evergreen plant materials to keep this home looking lush year-round.

Gravel has superior drainage properties, is easier to maintain, and is a dog-friendly landscape option.

Lattice panels support climbing perennials and protect the pups from the plants and the plants from the pups.

Plants surrounded by mulch burst forth from the retaining wall, adding a unique and aesthetic element to the yard.

The screened-in patio provides shade and comfort for not only the pup but the owner as well.
