A term used often in the home and design realm, a color scheme doesn’t mean choosing a random selection of colors that appeal to you in-store. A proper color scheme involves a conscious choice of color throughout your home. Your color scheme applies to everything, from furniture to fabrics to minor details and accessories. Keep in mind, that interior designers rarely ever choose one color to work with. Instead, a collection of colors that when taken in visually together, will achieve the desired impact.

Consult a color wheel to find your perfect color scheme.

The most popular strategy for finding the right color combinations begins with one of the following approaches:

Analogous Color Palettes:

Choose a color on the cool side of the wheel and work with its neighboring colors.

Complementary Color Palettes:

Choose a color anywhere on the color wheel and find its complementary color directly opposite.

Triad Color Palettes:

Select 3 main colors evenly spaced around the color wheel for a greater color variation.
