Kate Miles Design Defines Elegance at this Historic Renovation on East Bay

This historic East Bay home was thoughtfully reimagined to support modern, multigenerational living while preserving its original character. Interior designer Kate Miles of Kate Miles Design partnered with St. Pierre Construction to improve circulation, integrate an elevator, and transform everyday spaces into highly functional, design-forward interiors.

On the main level, the kitchen received a bright update with newly refinished white cabinetry and a custom seafoam green island that anchors the space. A banquette dining area and antique country table create a relaxed family gathering zone, while French doors allow flexibility between casual and formal entertaining spaces. Updated lighting, built-ins, and soft furnishings unify the open layout.

The elevator installation prompted the installation of smart storage solutions, including ceiling-height pantry cabinetry and a concealed laundry area. A high-gloss pink powder room with marble, brass accents, fun wallpaper, and herringbone tile adds a bold design moment.

Upstairs, a former bedroom now serves as a dressing room with custom storage and library ladders. The primary bath features floating vanities, fluted mirrors, and soft blush finishes that echo the home’s layered palette.

Throughout the renovation, Kate Miles Design balanced historic preservation with modern comfort, creating a home that honors its past while supporting everyday life today.
