At Salon Liv in downtown Charleston, a thoughtful transformation led by interior designer Kristen Mills of Inch Projects highlights the power of community-driven design. Housed in an 18th-century building on Wentworth Street, the salon’s expansion honors its historic character while introducing fresh, contemporary layers.
Lime-washed walls, suspended mirrors, and vintage furnishings reimagined with performance textiles create a space that feels both grounded and open. A bold artwork by local artist Demetrius Bing sets the palette, echoed in subtle accents throughout. The design supports natural flow, enhancing both the client experience and daily operations. Local collaborators, including Celadon, Sherwin-Williams, Iola Modern, and Molufs, anchor the project in Charleston’s creative network.

As Kristin puts it, “Salon Liv’s new design is not only about aesthetics. It is about showing what’s possible when talented locals work with shared purpose and real passion.”
