Kaitlyn Tassarotti of Carolina Lanterns & Lighting created a layered, textural lighting plan that reflects the homeowner’s vision and the home’s context. The selection of combinations weaves a cohesive narrative of light and shadow throughout the home.

Mixed Materials

Central to the design plan is plaster, a material that lends a tactile, organic quality to interiors. Visual Comfort Co.‘s 4-light 36” wide chandelier suspends subtle contrast and texture above the moody dining room. At the same time, plaster pendants streamline the adjacent kitchen where Hudson Valley Lighting’s Plaster No.1  suspends from 54-inch aged brass chains.

In the hallway, Kaitlyn avoided conventional recessed lighting, instead opting for brass flush mounts by Generation. Hand-made wood accordion pendants from Brazil activate the personality in the mudroom with Rebecca Atwood wallpaper. A sleek 3-blade ceiling fan improves comfort and visibility in the primary bedroom.
