Since ancient times, a fireplace has been a cherished addition to any home.
Before construction began on his custom home, this Kiawah Island homeowner was sure he wanted the fireplace to be the centerpiece of his living room. Knight Residential Group, the builder of this home, recommended WilliamSmith Fireplaces to the homeowner, due to their extensive collaboration on numerous projects.
“Usually, communication flows through the builder rather than directly to the subcontractor. However, Tony Smith and his team at WilliamSmith Fireplaces were so responsive and pleasant to work with that, by the end of the project, I found myself calling Tony directly,” explains the homeowner.
Tony always starts by reviewing the architectural plans of the home. This allows him to understand the surroundings and overhead space of the potential fireplace location.
A fixture from Restoration Hardware inspired this fireplace design. Knowing the homeowner wanted an industrial look, WilliamSmith Fireplaces offered various metal samples to help him choose the paneling for the fireplace.
The panels feature a hot roll natural finish, an intentionally distressed finish that highlights the variations in the metal.
This Isokern fireplace showcases an industrial contemporary style with its hot roll natural finish, accented by rivets and decorative banding. WilliamSmith Fireplaces installed a Rasmussen burner, which includes a Valve Vanisher that hides all controls beneath it.
The fireplace showcases fireballs in varying sizes, contributing to its modern design.
The homeowner says, “I appreciate the irregular geometry of the fireballs; I didn’t want it to resemble a row of cannonballs. The varied sizes give it a contemporary edge with a more graphic feel.”
